They're not for illegal immigrants. Now that Bush can declare anyone an enemy combatant, lock them up for life and confiscate their property, those detention facilities look a lot more ominous, don't they?

The problem with this article is it shows EXCESSIVE bias towards paramilitary groups which is what Blackwater is. Bias is good becuase it is an opinion, but excessive bias is fanaticism in its own
right.

The author should also know that they are NOT generally disunited, unambitious and lacking discipline, unfaithful, unvaliant before friends, nor are they cowardly before enemies since the majority of Blackwater Associates have already been in service as Navy Seals, Army Rangers, Ex-Delta Forces, British SAS, etc. They're neither stupid nor untrained and in many cases DO IN FACT do their JOBS with professionalism and tact!

I don't have much to say to the conspiracy-minded among you except to ask that you at least try to see the world through lenses that don't confirm your biases.

As for the member of the clergy who wrote: I'm sure you would never do such a thing, nor would most of the clergy in America. Having said that, history shows us that men of the cloth have been willing conspirators in some horrible atrocities, from the massacres of Native Americans to the Holocaust. This isn't to say that the profession is dishonorable, just as prone to human failings as any other. I hope it never comes to the point where you have to make that decision.

Sorry, but there is a flaw in YOUR analysis. These people are NOT "fundamentalist Christians." They are PHONY Christians who use "God" as an excuse for what they do while hiding the fact that it has more to do with power and greed than God.
 

Let's think about something for a second. You are talking like mercenaries are just going to walk in here and rout the country with the most heavily armed civilian population known in history. 90% of the american people own guns! They own them because they know how to use them. There are individuals, paramilitaries, malitia groups and they are scattered all over this country. I doubt that it will get to the point of allout war on the streets of America between Blackwater and the rest of America's citizens. That doesn't lessen the unconstitutionality of this move one iota, doesn't make this any less of an assault on our civil liberties, and it doesn't make this any less of an authoritarian power-grab by the Executive Branch and its corporate interests.

I'm actually more fearful of that NOT happening early on, and Americans getting comfortable with the presence of private military bases in their communities. Then when those guys are sent to quell some uprising by "domestic enemies," too many will say it's a good thing. You know, to protect our liberty. They hate us for our freedom.
