Hitting the Jackpot – A Curse or Boon?

Monday, May 17, 2010 posted by admin

Playing E-lottery and winning is a dream that everyone wants to see and hopes this will become a reality. When it actually dawns on you and you hit the jackpot, your life is not the same any more. There are many decisions to be made and many changes are going to take place in the way you live.  Overnight you may become a millionaire.

Actually, receiving a large sum of money from any source, be it inheritance, gift or lottery can be too bothersome. Everyone is happy to win but it can be a real headache when you actually receive the amount in your hands. You do not know what to do with such a lot of money. Usually, what happens is that you want to buy everything that hits your eye. You start feeling that all those things are essential for you, though so long you had survived without it.

Then there will be pressure of frequent visits or phone calls by relatives and friends who until now were unknown to you. They go out of their way to help you manage your money. Beware of these new friends and relatives. They can pose a danger to you.

Next, there are the worries of investments. You keep worrying whether you are taking the correct decision or not. The best thing to do in this respect is to take professional advice. These people are in a better position to guide you in the various investments that will ultimately be profitable for you in the long run.  You may begin to think about any other changes that need to be made in your lifestyle, such as changing your house or purchasing a new car or even planning a cruise with your family.

Most importantly, you should consider investing in some kind of insurance, maybe a life insurance or at least a health insurance.

Another major decision, which needs to be taken, is whether you want to quit your job. While taking this decision, think about the money in hand, that is the winning amount that you received after tax deductions. How long will that amount sustain you and your family? You need to answer this question first. In any case, the amount that you win will perish someday. Then what? If you have a rewarding job, it is advisable that you do not quit; instead, you could go for a long vacation and relax.

With this big win, you might become a little generous and want to gift your near and dear ones. You might even give a thought to donations, which is a very good way of gifting to a needy.

Not all these tensions need be taken while receiving the virtual win. You must be wondering what is a virtual win? Well, you might have received emails telling you that your email ID has been selected and you have won a jackpot. You can be rest assured that these are all fake as there is nothing like selecting emails for lucky draw.  Therefore, you should only be thinking about your winnings after you actually receive the money in hand.

MYTHS RELATED TO LOTTERY

Monday, May 17, 2010 posted by admin

There are many people in this world who are averse to lottery. It is not because they do not like the games or they have lost a lot in lottery. It is purely some preconceived notions and myths that prevent them from even stepping into a lottery shop or logging in to any online lottery site. Are these myths and beliefs really true? Let us consider a few myths, which in reality are not true.

The chance of winning a lottery is very small

In a real game of lottery, even if you do not hit the jackpot, you still stand a chance of winning some money. Depending on how many correct numbers you have chosen, you can win a second or third prize.

You do not get anything if you do not win

Consider the game of lottery. It is a game after all. If you have entered the game, will you not enjoy the game? Does that not count? The fun and enjoyment that you get out of the game is a reward which you will definitely get even if you do not hit the jackpot.

Only the winner is benefited in a lottery

Wrong. The retailers and suppliers who sell the tickets, software for the games, the machinery etc. also earn a living through lottery. The winners spend their money and it comes back to the economy of the country. The tax paid by the winners go to the government, which is utilized for the betterment of the state and hence, for the betterment of all citizens.

Lottery tickets are purchased by the poor or people with low income

It seems most unlikely because a person with less income will obviously spend on his daily requirements rather than purchase lottery tickets. Researchers have found that usually people with very high and low income do not play lottery. Rather, it is the middle income group, which is more involved in purchasing lottery tickets and playing lottery.

You can win only if you are lucky

It could be partially true. Yes, luck plays a role in winning a lottery but then once you start playing the game regularly you could also follow a strategy and win. You could also increase your chances of winning by purchasing more tickets and playing more often.

Lottery cannot be won more than once

This again is not true. There are numerous cases where people have won more than once. In fact, there are people who have been so hooked after winning a lottery that they started playing more often and hence increased their chances of winning. Those who are smart enough to understand the strategy, have also won over and over, giving the notion to others that lotteries are fixed.

Lotteries are fixed

The state governments are very strict in this respect. There are certain rules and regulations regarding lottery, and these need to be followed strictly by the lottery firms. In order to have fair lottery, the machinery are regularly cleaned and calibrated.

These myths can never bring any positive or negative impact on your playing or winning the game. So, just go for the lottery, investigate yourself, play the games and win.
